HOME FOR TUTI DIDI

During her project trip through Mugu in 2023, Chay Ya Austria’s chairwoman Sabine Klotz met Tuti Didi, the mother of our sponsored child Sagar (12 years old). The single mother and her son lived in a small rented corrugated iron hut with a mud floor and no running water, shower or toilet. Tuti Didi has a severe walking disability and has to crawl on the floor to move around. She earns her little money by selling cigarettes and sweets on the street in front of her draughty shack.

To make it through the winter, we got them the essentials (food, blankets, mattresses…) and then decided to build them a small stone house with a bedroom, shower and toilet as well as a kitchen with some shelves for their store.

The municipality signed a contract guaranteeing them a piece of land for life. The foundation stone for the new house was laid there in January 24.
