Women's Empowerment
Our Projects
Women often do not have it easy in Nepal’s traditionally patriarchal society. In rural areas it is not unusual for girls to be married off at the age of 14. Moreover, sexual assault is unfortunately not uncommon and is generally punished with the banishment of the woman! Children in remote villages are still mostly born without medical help and also not rarely in unhygienic stables. In addition, girls and women still have significantly worse access to education – in 2018, 78.6 % of Nepal’s male population could read and write, but only 59.7 % of women!
Therefore, the advancement of women through the creation of their own income is of particular concern to us. After all, economic success is usually followed by social and cultural participation. In this way, the women concerned have the opportunity to participate in shaping their community as active members.
