Project
The village of Kandagaun is located at 3,015 m altitude in a beautiful green and hilly area. Unfortunately, the school building was old, damaged and lacked space to accommodate the 145 students and their four teachers.
With the help of the Carnevali Foundation, we constructed a new school building with three big classrooms and new clean toilets. Furthermore, child-friendly furniture was provided by the municipality.
In December 2021, the foundation laying ceremony took place. In April 2023, the new class- and bathrooms were officially inaugurated.
Sustainability: Sinja Rural Municipality took care of 20 % of the construction costs and will pay for all wages and running costs after completion of the project.
Sustainability Claimer
Due to the special focus on sustainability, the teachers’ salaries as well as the teaching material at the schools we support are normally paid by the government.
Under special circumstances, such as in very remote schools or in the case of marginalised ethnic groups, these costs are covered by Chay Ya for one year.
