Our Disability Learning Centers in Lokaha, Rautahat (Link) and Tulsipur, Dang (Link) have both been completed and are home to children aged 6-16. School gardens have been established and there are playgrounds so that the children can let off steam.
Although the local governments cover the running costs of the boarding schools, i.e. salaries, building maintenance and upkeep for the children, they are not able to cover all the costs for the additional services that the children need. Above all, this includes physiotherapy and sports equipment to enable the children to work on their motor skills independently or with support.
We would therefore like to expand the support for children with disabilities so that they receive targeted and individual support to enable them to live their lives as independently as possible in the future. To this end, we want to expand the two learning centers to include the following:
- Construction of a barrier-free path from the learning centers to the playgrounds
- English and sports teacher for one year
- Purchase of sports equipment (e.g. yoga mats, sports clothing, badminton, table tennis, skipping ropes, balls), games and teaching materials
- Medical therapies:
- A doctor comes to the boarding school once a month to provide medical care for the children
- A physiotherapist comes once a month to carry out targeted exercises with the children to improve their motor skills
