The Parliamentary Republic of Nepal is a landlocked country in South Asia. Its population is 26.3 million and it borders China to the north and India to the south. Kathmandu is the largest city and capital of Nepal. The country is struggling with the transition from a monarchy to a republic and is considered a developing country, ranked 144th in the Human Development Index in 2016. Apart from that, the country has been hit by several devastating earthquakes in recent years, which have resulted in a setback in its development. A large part of Nepal’s population suffers from famine and poverty. This is accompanied by serious shortcomings and problems in terms of infrastructure, schooling, health care and sanitation.

This section should give you an insight into the diversity, the culture, history and geography of Nepal, so that you can prepare yourself adequately for your stay. Here you will find all the information you need to plan your trip and familiarize yourself with the customs and traditions of Nepal. If you can’t find the information you are looking for, check out our FAQ-page for answers to the most common questions. If you still haven’t found what you’re looking for, just write to us.

Finally, I’d like to emphasize the Get Ready-section, where you’ll find a concise summary of all the things you should do before you leave. It includes a shopping list, health checks, flight, insurance and visa preparations.
