The municipality of Chandrapur is located in the district of Rautahat, in the south of Nepal, on the border with India. The area is very poor and has a low literacy rate. Unlike the north of the country, it is very flat and is regularly flooded in the summer, the time of the monsoon. Every year, people lose their homes and sometimes their lives. Despite many structural hurdles, the local community is very committed. In 2019, it therefore built the Shree Janjyoti Secondary School. This is a comprehensive school including boarding school for deaf and hearing-impaired children aged 4-20 years.

There are now 50 children (32 girls and 18 boys) living at this boarding school, where they have found a safe home. The boarding school meets their basic needs and the school takes care of their academic education. The only thing missing is a meaningful leisure activity. Chay Ya would therefore like to build a motor skills park for the children. This is to consist of various play stations, including a slide, swings, hanging poles, climbing stations and a play tower. This will enable the children to develop their physical skills through play and combat their balance problems. In Nepal, such parks are a new concept, so the children have no opportunities to try out their skills nearby.

In addition to the motor skills park, we would also like to create a kitchen garden together with the children. There they will learn how to cultivate the soil, plant, harvest and process vegetables. In agrarian Nepal, where most rural families are self-sufficient, such knowledge is indispensable.
