Project
On the top floor of Dhrubatara, Carnevali Technical School is currently under construction. Four classrooms are being specially built and equipped to prepare 40 high school students from grades 9-12 for technical professions. A chemistry lab, a physics lab, a computer lab and a drawing room are planned, which will be equipped with furniture, projectors and digital boards. This will allow technical classes to be offered in addition to the standard Nepali, math and English classes.
Civil engineering is the first planned subject area with, among other things, software and computer classes, technical drawing and surveying, as well as cost estimation. Students will have the chance to learn how to handle different building materials (wood, stone, concrete), but also how to lay water pipes or build a road.
The first school year with 32 students enrolled so far is financed by the Carnevali Foundation, after that the community takes over any follow-up costs. With each successful year, more subjects (and students) are to be added – for example, for next year computer science is already planned.
Sustainability Claimer
Due to the special focus on sustainability, the teachers’ salaries as well as the teaching material at the schools we support are normally paid by the government.
Under special circumstances, such as in very remote schools or in the case of marginalised ethnic groups, these costs are covered by Chay Ya for one year.
