Project
Since 2012, three-week free mobile health camps have taken place every year in the Tsum Valley, Himalayas, with a total of three stops in the villages of Chumling, Nile and Lar, between 2,500 and 3,200 meters above sea level. The steep and strenuous trails were a real challenge for everyone, six days walking up and four days back. All relief supplies (over 1.5 tons per camp in total) such as medicines, water filters, school supplies and warm clothes for the children were transported on our mules. On average, between 700 and 800 people received medical care per year, and over 400 children were given school supplies (rucksacks, books, exercise books, pens, paints, etc.) and warm clothing at the same time. Half of the camps were financed by the Vorarlberg state government, the other half by private donors. After the big earthquakes, a two-week health camp in eight mountain villages also took place in the Langtang region in October 2015. Many people were still living in emergency shelters, and the cold and hygienic conditions were worsening their health.
