Municipal WASH Plan Development Project (N-WASH)

Chay Ya Nepal is a non-profit organization, working closely with mountain communities in Nepal to identify their needs and develop viable economic, environmental and social solutions. The project activities include education for children, building basic health care systems, environmental conservation, entrepreneurship development and immediate humanitarian relief. Chay Ya network is established in Austria, Nepal, Switzerland and the USA.

Currently, Chay Ya Nepal is implementing the Municipal WASH Plan Development Project in 7 districts of Province-02 supported by UNICEF Nepal with the major goal of developing a WASH Plan of respective working Palikas using N-WASH mobile applications designed and developed by Nepal Government, Department of Water Supply and Sewerage. Therefore, we invite applications from interested and qualified Nepali citizens for the following positions: positions are located in Sarlahi district, Rautahat district, Bara district and Parsa district and will be based on project Palikas.

Local Coordinators (WASH): 4 Position

The position holder is solely responsible for the implementation of the project activities for the assigned local Palika. S/he will Co-lead the planning, implementation and monitoring of project activities related to data collection by enumerators, supervising/mobilizing/replacing the enumerators for assigned tasks, coordination and management with local government authorities for different programs related to project activities. Under the direct supervision of Program Officer, S/he is responsible for effective and efficient implementation of project activities, supervision and coaching of project staffs and coordinating with municipal authorities, stakeholders and UNICEF Nepal field team. DESCRIPTION

Qualification and Experiences

  • Bachelors’ degree in sociology, social work, development studies, public health, environmental sciences or equivalent degree from the recognized university.
  • At least 4 years of similar experience in relevant field specially in terai region of Nepal focused on Total Sanitation and WASH.
  • Experience in planning, implementation and monitoring of projects.
  • Fluent in oral and written Nepali and English language and knowledge of Terai local language would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good skills in empowerment, networking, lobby and advocacy.
  • Knowledge on financial management and staff supervision and development.
  • Excellent report writing skills with proficient in computer skills and applications.
  • Skills in training, coaching, mentoring and capacity building of beneficiaries.
  • Willingness to stay and travel extensively in the project locations and ability to work under high pressure.
  • Having valid two-wheeler driving license and able to ride a motorcycle un rural environment.
