On October 17th the new COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER IN PALUNGTAR was opened with the great support of the Mayor and his Deputy Mayor and an impressive audience of 95% women. The new Health and Birth Post provides a safe and clean environment for childbirth and is therefore an important step for the empowerment of women in this region. The health post will also be a focal point for primary health care for everyone and thus an important part of the sustainable development of Nepal’s society. It includes a delivery room, two rooms for in-patient admission, a pharmacy and sanitary facilities. The community in Palungtar was so enthusiastic about the plan that they extended the building by a second floor from their own financing. We are very happy that the community in Palungtar supported the construction and the opening with such enthusiasm.
