Corona Relief Vorarlberg

Unfortunately, the current situation in Nepal is much more dramatic than during the first wave.

That is why seven people from Vorarlberg have joined forces to start an emergency aid campaign.
These are Sabine Klotz (Chay Ya Austria), Eric Leitner (Rokpa Austria), Wolfgang Bartl (Let the children walk), Theo Fritsche, Dr. Klaus Zitt, as well as the native Nepalese Maya and her husband Elmar Müller.

Together, the initiatives call for donations for the most necessary things in the quarantine stations (protective suits, masks, medicines, beds, etc.) and for food packages.

COVID-19-Pandemic in Nepal – Update April 11, 2021

After several months of declining numbers, they are unfortunately rising again in Nepal!

As of April 10, 2021, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 279,725, with 2,800 active cases (for comparison, there were 21,830 in October 2020, and only 911 on March 1, 2021) and 3,039 deaths. As before, these figures certainly do not reflect the whole truth, as the testing rate has been reduced even further. Plus, we are concerned about the figures from neighboring India, where record numbers of newly infected and corona deaths are currently being measured.

COVID-19-Pandemic in Nepal – Update May 06, 2020

Officially there are only 99 Corona cases in Nepal, but if you don’t test, you won’t find anything. We strongly doubt these official numbers, and also today’s decision of the Nepalese. government’s decision to postpone the curfew again until May 18 (a total of two months) reinforces this assumption. The people are not allowed to work, nor to go to the fields to harvest. Hunger is rampant and far more dangerous than the virus itself. But we try everything to help: our team from Nepal managed to get the coveted exit permits, no easy task, but it was done!

COVID-19 – Nepal needs urgent help for medical staff

While most of us have the luxury to stay in our homes and thereby be protected from COVID-19, it is much harder in Nepal. The people in Nepal are dependent on our help.

There is hardly a health system in place, so it is all the more important to prevent a mass spread of COVID-19.

In order to slow the spread, hygiene is a top priority. Therefore we are trying to import the urgently needed protective suits, masks, disinfectants, glasses etc. from China.
